Frequently asked questions about Annual Travel Insurance
Annual Travel Insurance is a policy that provides cover for those who travel more regularly. You pay once for 12 months cover and you’re covered for an unlimited amount of holidays within that period, although each individual trip length will have a limit, up to 93 days. So if you usually take more than one holiday per year it may save you time and money taking an Annual Travel Insurance Policy.
Annual Travel Insurance provides cover for an unlimited number of holidays within a 12 month period – including UK breaks. You’ll be covered for emergency medical expenses, (remember to declare any pre-existing medical conditions), baggage (in case it is lost, stolen or damaged during your holiday), and cancellation cover, which starts on the day you start your policy. While these are the main benefits, there’s also cover for delays, valuables and personal liability cover included in annual Travel Insurance policies.
When you get a quote for Annual Travel Insurance you will typically be asked if you want European or Worldwide cover, so it will depend on where you’re planning to visit within the next 12 months which policy you need. If you’re planning one European trip and one trip outside of Europe it can sometimes work out cheaper to take two single trip policies. When you get a quote online at Just Travel Cover, our worldwide policies include cover for USA, Canada and Caribbean too, but you should always check the policy wording for any country exclusions on annual policies. There is no cover on any policy if you travel to a destination where the FCDO has advised against all or all but essential travel.
Taking Annual Travel Insurance could save you time and money if you’re planning two or more trips within a 12 month period. It will mean you can go away at the last minute without worrying about organising insurance, and you’ll have one set of insurance documents too for each trip.
Annual Travel Insurance does not need to be expensive, but every quotation is based on your own unique circumstances and will depend on your age, medical history and the amount of days per trip you’d like to be covered for on each trip. It will also depend on if you’re planning a cruise in that 12 month period. We will compare prices from several insurers for you and in most cases present a bronze, silver and gold option.
Most Travel Insurance policies will have a list of “exclusions”, which are things that you cannot claim for on the policy. Many insurers may include medical treatment for pre-existing medical conditions – at Just Travel Cover we can provide cover on annual policies for hundreds of medical conditions as long as they are declared and accepted. Some conditions may be classed as an exclusion, for example a condition that is likely to get progressively worse over time – as such they would not be covered on an annual policy and we would recommend a single trip policy. As with all of our Travel Insurance there is also no cover if you choose to travel to a destination where the FCDO has advised against all, or all but essential travel. For a full list of exclusions please check the policy wording for each insurer.

We know that finding annual Travel Insurance can become harder as you get older – which is why many people opt for single trip cover for each holiday they have booked. We believe that age should not stand in the way of getting quality Travel Insurance so you can enjoy traveling in your twilight years, which is why some of our insurers do provide annual policies for travelers for any age, however this is subject to destination and medical screening. If you are over 75 we recommend getting a single trip quote online and we will then display an annual price if there is a policy available, so you can decide which policy is best for you.
There is no upper age limit on some of our Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance policies, but it is dependent on other factors including the amount of days you’d like cover for on each trip within the policy period, if you’re planning any cruises and if you have any pre-existing medical conditions.
We work with a panel of specialist providers so when you enter your details online we will show you prices from the insurers who can provide a policy for you. We’ll show you what’s included too, for example some policies will provide £5,000 per person cover for cancellation, and others will offer £10,000 per person, so you can choose the best policy depending on how much cover you need. In most cases there will be a Bronze, Silver or Gold option too.
